Tax, accounts, VAT, payroll and bookkeeping for Killarney hotels, tourism businesses, landlords and sole traders, from a Fellow Chartered Accountant about 30 minutes away.
Fuchsia Bell is a chartered accountancy practice run by Ger O’Connor FCA from Lassaboy, Boolteens, about 30 minutes from Killarney by road. Most Killarney clients work with us fully online, sending records from their phone and talking to Ger by phone or video. When you would rather sit down in person, meetings at our office are by appointment.
Killarney is one of the busiest tourism towns in Ireland, and much of our work here is with hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and the businesses that serve visitors. We also look after sole traders, contractors, landlords and farming families across East Kerry, all on fixed monthly fees.
Fellow Chartered Accountant
Everything a Killarney business or household needs from an accountant, at a fixed monthly fee.
Form 11 self-assessment and preliminary tax for Killarney sole traders, tour guides, directors and landlords, filed on ROS before the October deadline.
VAT registration and VAT3 returns for hotels, restaurants, B&Bs and activity providers, with the right rate applied to rooms, food and drink.
Cloud bookkeeping on Sage with AutoEntry, so receipts from a packed summer season are captured as they happen, not in a rush in January.
Weekly or fortnightly payroll for seasonal hotel and restaurant teams, with starters and leavers handled through the season and every pay run reported to Revenue.
Year-end accounts, CT1 returns and CRO annual returns for Killarney limited companies, from family-run hotels to engineering contractors.
CGT when you sell a holiday home or investment property near Killarney, and CAT planning when a family business or farm is passed on.
Also available: company secretarial services, non-resident tax clearance, outsourced CFO support and our Profitability Growth Model.
Few towns in Ireland depend on visitors as much as Killarney. Hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, jaunting cars and tour operators around the National Park, Muckross and the Gap of Dunloe take most of their income between Easter and October, then carry staff and loan costs through the quieter months. We plan VAT, preliminary tax and cash flow around that pattern, so a record summer does not leave you short when the tax bill arrives.
Killarney is not only tourism. We also work with engineering and manufacturing suppliers, retailers on Main Street, High Street and New Street, events and conference businesses, farmers in Kilcummin, Firies and Rathmore, and the many families who let a holiday home or an apartment in town. Each has its own tax rules, and we explain them in plain English before anything is filed.
VAT on rooms and food, payroll for large seasonal teams and cash-flow planning for the winter months.
Bookkeeping, VAT advice and income tax for tour guides, boat trips, bike hire and jaunting car operators.
Stock and margin tracking, VAT at the right rates and payroll for front-of-house and kitchen staff.
What to declare when a holiday home earns through a booking platform, and the expenses you can claim against it.
Accounts, payroll and CT returns for engineering firms, fabricators and suppliers to larger employers in the area.
Bookkeeping, VAT on stock and staff payroll for shops and service businesses in Killarney town centre.
Farm accounts, income tax returns and retirement relief for farms in Kilcummin, Firies, Glenflesk and Rathmore.
Tax returns and company set-up for consultants and contractors who live in Killarney and work for clients elsewhere.
The dates Killarney businesses need to plan around. Several of them land in the middle of the tourist season, so we track every one for you and file early.
Your Form 11 return, last year’s balance and this year’s preliminary tax all fall due as the season winds down. Filing on ROS usually extends this to mid-November.
Bi-monthly VAT3 returns are due by the 19th of the month after each period, or the 23rd on ROS, including the busy July–August period.
Every pay run, including summer starters and end-of-season leavers, is reported to Revenue on or before the pay date. PAYE is paid monthly by the 14th, or the 23rd on ROS.
A company’s CT1 return and balance of tax are due on the 23rd day of the ninth month after its year end, so a hotel with a December year end files by 23 September.
The B1 annual return, with financial statements attached, is due within 56 days of your company’s annual return date. Filing late brings penalties and can cost you your audit exemption.
Selling a holiday home or site? CGT on gains from 1 January to 30 November is due by 15 December, and December gains by 31 January.

No. Our office is at Lassaboy, Boolteens, Co. Kerry, V93 DF20, about 30 minutes from Killarney. Most Killarney clients work with us fully online, and you can meet Ger in person at our office by appointment.
We look at your monthly income and costs from last year, then plan VAT, payroll and preliminary tax around your busy and quiet months. That way the tax due after a strong summer is already set aside, and winter cash flow does not come as a surprise.
You must register once your turnover exceeds, or is likely to exceed, €42,500 for services or €85,000 for goods in any 12-month period. These are the thresholds in place since January 2025. Some tourism services have their own VAT treatment, so we check how yours should be handled before you register.
Income from short-term and holiday lets is taxable rental income, even when it comes through a booking platform. Rent-a-room relief does not cover short-term guests. We work out what you owe and which expenses, such as cleaning, repairs and booking fees, reduce the bill.
Yes. We run weekly, fortnightly or monthly payroll, add starters and leavers as the season changes and report every pay run to Revenue on time. We can also help you prepare for pension auto-enrolment.
The Form 11 return and balance of tax are due by 31 October following the end of the tax year, along with preliminary tax for the current year. Filing and paying through ROS usually extends this to mid-November.
Yes. We manage the handover, collect prior-year records and link ourselves as your tax agent on ROS, so nothing falls between the cracks.
Yes. We review the letter, check the figures and deal with Revenue on your behalf, whether it is a query, an incorrect assessment or an audit notice. The sooner you send it to us, the more options there are.
